Steel beams and wall openings

Steel beams for load-bearing walls – supplied and installed

An open-plan kitchen, a wider passage or a new staircase: when a load-bearing wall has to go, we supply and install the steel beam or frame – cut to fit, set in place and ready to be boxed in.

Steel frame for a new open-plan kitchen

A load-bearing wall may only be removed after a structural calculation that sets the beam section – for example HEB or IPE – and how it is supported. Changes to load-bearing structures may also need a building permit or notification to the municipality, and in a flat the owners’ association usually has to approve. We work from the engineer’s calculation and can refer you to one if needed.

The steel is prepared in the workshop so the installation in your home is quick and clean – also when the beam sits in masonry. We are happy to work with your carpenter or bricklayer on supports, temporary propping and boxing in the beam afterwards.

Send us the job – you will get a reply with price and plan, usually the same day.

Questions

Good to know

Another question? Call +45 60 43 96 88.

Do I need an engineer?

Yes. A load-bearing wall may only be removed after a structural calculation that sets the beam size and supports. If you don’t have an engineer, we can refer you to one.

What does it cost to have a steel beam installed?

It depends on the span, the section, access and whether columns or a full frame are needed. Send measurements, a drawing and a few photos and you will get a fixed price.

Do I need a building permit to remove a load-bearing wall?

You might. In Denmark, changes to load-bearing structures often have to be applied for or notified to the municipality, depending on the building. Check with the municipality or your engineer before work starts.

Can you install steel beams in a flat?

Yes. In a flat the owners’ association usually has to approve, and the floors above must be taken into account – so the engineer’s calculation matters even more.

Can you work with my builder?

Yes. We supply and install the steel and plan the work with the carpenter or bricklayer who handles supports, propping and boxing in.
